Event Details

Flex 4 is changing the way custom components and item renderers are developed.  These changes include a new component architecture, a new item renderer system, Spark component skinning, modifications made to the component lifecycle and other fundamental language changes.  These additions and updates will effect how your day-to-day development works within Flex.  In this session, you will learn:

  •     Changes to the MXML language
  •     The basics of FXG, the new states syntax and layouts
  •     Examine how the Flex component lifecycle has changed
  •     Examine in-depth the new Spark skinning architecture
  •     Learn how to create custom components using Spark
  •     Examine the changes to item renderer system
  •     Learn how to create new item renderers in Flex 4
  •     Learn best practices for creating components and item renderers
  •     Examine potential issues and how to avoid them when using Flex 4

This course is an on-line course available to anyone with an internet connection and the Flash player.  The session is hosted using Adobe's Connect web seminar solution.  At the end of the session, attendees will receive a PDF copy of the slide deck, example source code used in the presentation, a new 60-page mini-book that examines all of the concepts discussed in the session and a copy of the Flex 3 Component and Application Lifecycle white-paper.
